Superkarts! USA Expands National Program to Cadet Level
Hot on the heels of the confirmation of the 2010 Superkarts! USA Pro Tour schedule, the organization is now focusing its attention on the opening round of the series – the inaugural ‘SpringNationals’ – which will kick things off on the April 16-18 weekend at the Jim Russell International Karting Center in Sonoma, CA. The newest piece of the puzzle has now been confirmed as SKUSA officials are excited to announce the expansion of their class structure, with the positioning of a new TaG Mini ROK class for drivers between the ages of 9-12. This class will be run as part of the Pro Tour this season, thanks to a support program that has been put together by SKUSA and Vortex, the engine’s manufacturer. This effort will be backed by a fleet of complimentary engines for the first two rounds of the series, motor packages offered for overall weekend race winners and a supported trip to the ROK World Cup for the Pro Tour champion.

The new announcement of the TaG Mini ROK program is big for SKUSA and comes following an extensive research effort by the organization’s technical team, which saw the crew test several different powerplants over a period of several months. In an effort to open the door to all karters, SKUSA went on a search for the correct racing package for the Cadet-aged drivers, eventually deciding on the 60cc Mini ROK – which will be debuted on the national level in 2010 with its inclusion in the Pro Tour and the SuperNationals. It will also be available as a local option with SKUSA’s regional programs, should the support warrant a class on the schedule. In 2011, the TaG Mini ROK will be introduced as an official Superkarts! USA category, both nationally and regionally. This engine has been in production for seven years and has a very tight spec, aggressively limiting the work that can be done. The specs will also be locked in for at least three years. Read more

SKUSA Mountain Region Informational Meeting
Location: Skylark Lounge, upstairs
www.skylarklounge.com
140 S. Broadway, Denver
Saturday, February 13, 2-4pm

The SKUSA MR team will be on hand to present plans, schedule, locations, race day agenda, and answer any questions you may have.

The Skylark Lounge is the facility that generous Colorado Karters celebrated Bob Reed’s recovery efforts, and the site of Rich Vito's fund raiser. The bar will be stocked and staffed, but you will need to purchase your own beverages. Please feel free to bring some munchies, as you may have the urge to eat as well. This is not a party, yet, but a good way for our organization to answer your questions, and address any of your concerns.

Everyone, and we mean everyone, is invited to come and have a good time. If there is anything specific we can come prepared for, please let us know. Until then, we look forward to seeing as many karters as possible at this great venue.

First, the regional board would like to acknowledge and thank everyone who has shown interest in the SKUSA Mountain Region. Your comments and suggestions are, and will continue to be appreciated and taken to heart. Feel free to email us at info@skusamr.com if you have any questions, comments or suggestions. The SKUSA Mountain Region is an independent organization and passionate about only one thing- Putting the racer first. Thru our national class structure and licensing program, racers will be able to gage their talent against the best Karters in North America. Nationally sanctioned racing with national rules and national recognition. Participation in our regional offerings assures your entry is guaranteed into national races such as the Pro Tour and Super Nationals.

Colorado is blessed with a few of the best kart racing tracks in the nation. We are indebted to the owners of these facilities who have understood the goals and desires of our group. Without their input and support we will not be successful. That being said, we need to reiterate one simple fact-We are an independent organization. We are not affiliated with any one track owner or facility. Our relationship starts and stops with them allowing us to offer SKUSAMR races at their tracks. We are not competing with them, nor do we want to control all racing in our state or region. Again, our goal is to create and maintain and organization that puts the racer first. This year, 2 out of 3 tracks (IMI and Grand Junction Motor Speedway) accepted our request to host regional SKUSA events at their tracks. Thank You Brad and Stacey, we are greatly appreciative of your support.

We have had a busy month, culminating with travel to PPIR (along with several karters) to test and refine the track configuration. Thank you to the individuals who participated this past Sunday in our test. The biggest THANK YOU of all goes out to the management of PPIR, who allowed our group access to this spectacular facility for the day.

PPIR will offer the some of the best kart racing Colorado has ever witnessed. As the host site for our first Regional race and the Regions Cup race, 2010 promises to be exciting. This facility offers amenities never before seen at our level of racing. RV parking with electrical hook ups, Restrooms, showers and full service garage space. Contact us online for more details and to get your name on the list if you need to park your RV or rent one of the garages. These amenities will be offered on a first come first served basis.

The SKUSA Mountain Region appreciates your support and needs your participation. Please join in the fun and excitement that is SKUSAMR.
